Anniversary Dinner at Zola New World Bistro
Welp you voted and here are the official results. Grilled Salmon led from the beginning, but an hour before dinner there was a late push for Stuffed Peppers. It was a heated race, but in the end the Peppers were just too stuffed to over take the lead. Thank you all for the input, it was fun having my readers choose my dinner!
The dinner was incredible, really I could have ate anything on that menu and it would have tasted fantastic. The guys down at Zola New World Bistro really know their stuff and every time we go there we are reminded that there is a big difference between $20 meals and $60 meals (Not that we don't love $20 meals). Here is what we ended up feasting on:
The Salmon was cooked just how I like it, a nice crust on the outside, but soft and flaky on the inside. Both of the salads paired really well with it, as well as the sauce. It was lite, refreshing, and just the perfect amount to satisfy me without making me feel uncomfortably full. I really liked the crispness of the potato salad with the pieces of raw red onion and yellow pepper, it had a nice textural balance to the flaky fish. Overall just a very balanced plate.
Luckily I have an amazing woman who gave me a little helping of her dish, which she has concluded as the best dish she has had at Zola's and upon tasting I don't blame her. The tortillas were formed into a cylinder and fried, which was then stuffed to the gills with what I am guessing to be short rib carnitas. The meat was extremely tender and flavorful and eating it with the crispy tortilla was just amazing. Then add on top the black bean and avocado salad with the lime sour cream....it was basically Chipotle on crack. As soon as I got home I started writing out a copy cat recipe, so hopefully I'll have that for your shortly!
All in all we had a fantastic dinner and what can I say...I cannot wait to marry this girl next month! It has been an amazing three years and I am looking forward to the many years we have ahead of us.
